Leadership Development

The Department of Accounting in the Fox School of Business and Management is pleased to announce the Accounting Leadership Program (ALP), designed to provide an educational and enrichment experience for a selected group of accounting majors.  Graduates of the Accounting Leadership Program will demonstrate high levels of academic preparation and leadership-skill development for careers as Certified Public Accountants with major international and regional professional accounting firms, or careers in industry with large corporations, or federal and state governments.

Career Opportunities & Mentoring

Accounting Leadership Program students will be mentored by faculty and outside professionals, and will participate in other enrichment activities that prepare them to meet the hiring expectations and challenges of the top public accounting firms and leading industry employers.  Students in the Accounting Leadership Program will enhance their professional development by building a sense of community among participants, and will improve career opportunities through increased knowledge of financial accounting, auditing and income taxation.  Graduates of the Program will receive an Accounting Leadership Program certificate along with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

Program Activities

Accounting Leadership Program activities will begin during the student's sophomore year with formal acceptance into the program during the student’s junior year.  All students accepted into the ALP will take honors accounting classes (starting with Intermediate I) together as a cohort group at the Temple University Main Campus.  A core group of Fox School of Business and Management Accounting Department faculty will work with and focus on the development of the cohort group during the student’s participation in the ALP.  Classes will be limited in size, fostering leadership development, teamwork and social interaction.  An ALP student is not required to be enrolled in the Business Honors Program in order to take the required courses.
