Location

Established by the Romans over 2000 years ago as the capital of Gaul , modern Lyon is France ’s second largest city and also one of its safest. It bathes in history, much of it still visible in the form of Roman amphitheatres, aqueducts, and much more. In the late nineties, UNESCO recognized Lyon ’s historic quarter as a World Heritage Site.

Located at the crossroads of Europe in Southern France , Lyon is close to countless European destinations. Paris , Switzerland , and Italy are only two hours away by train, while other major European cities such as London , Barcelona , Brussels , and Amsterdam can be reached within five hours. In addition, the Alps with its world-class ski resorts and the beautiful beaches of the French Riviera are only two hours away by car or train. CEFAM offers a familiar academic program in a truly international and culturally rich setting.

Campus

Located in the heart of Lyon, in a modern building equipped to serve the pedagogical needs of its students, CEFAM offers a learning environment which promotes academic success. Mini, comfortable amphitheaters and smaller, more intimate classrooms promote active student participation during classes. The computer labs offer students access to all the latest computer software and to the Internet on which they can work during open access times.

Housing

Housing is provided by CEFAM and billed along with tuition and fees. Food costs are roughly equivalent to Philadelphia prices.

Semester Calendar

Fall semester runs from early September through mid December and Spring semester starts in early January and ends in mid May.

Upon arrival in France , foreign students can apply for their residence cards, “cartes de sejour”, directly on campus at the International Programs Office which transmits the file directly to authorities.
