International is a state of mind. It is the extra dimension, a sense of adventure, openness, tolerance and respect for what is different. In a global environment, thinking internationally is the key to success. Students interested in an international career get a head start by coming to Welingkar where they are immediately immersed in an international setting. Students learn to understand cultural and behavioral differences from the first day in class.

Networking is an integral part of Welingkar’s approach and develops the multicultural attitudes sought after by international firms in the global market place. Its faculty members will introduce participants to India, its changing economic and business conditions. Welingkar has 38 core faculty and over 80 visiting faculty spanning across various subject areas.  All courses are taught in English by international faculty and the organization of study allows for the building of individualized course plans based on the educational background and career orientation of each student.

Location:

In the center of India's financial hub with one of the most modern campuses in the city, the Welingkar Institute utilizes its outstanding connections, in both the academic and corporate worlds, to create a stimulating mix of challenging business lectures, company visits and cultural destinations tailored to individual student interests and needs.

Mumbai is the largest city in India, the transportation hub and industrial center. Manufactures include automobiles, machinery, clothing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electronic equipment, and refined petroleum. It is home to India's largest banks and financial houses and is also the center of India's domestic film and entertainment industry, the largest in the world. Shipbuilding and fish processing are also important industries.

Delhi is an important commercial center in South Asia and the capital of the great democracy of India. The crowded, colorful and unruly heart of India, lies on the west bank of the Yamuna River in northern India, near the Thar, or Great Indian Desert.    New Delhi is structured around two central promenades called the Rajpath, stretching from the Presidential Palace (Rashtrapati Bhavan) upto the India Gate and the Janpath which begins from Connaught Circus and cuts the Shantipath at right angles.  New Delhi is characterised by its wide straight roads and numerous roundtanas. Being an ancient city, Delhi has the shadows of its past. It is not just a a city but it is a book--a book which narrates the history of India.

Housing:

Double occupancy housing will be organized by Welingkar, includes breakfast, and is covered by the program fee.

Documentation: Students must have a valid passport and Visa in order to enter India. The visa process takes approximately two weeks and can be done by mail.  It is recommended that you obtain your visa one month prior to departure for India.

Currency, Money and Banking:

The official currency is the Rupee (Re) divided into 100 Paisa. Traveler's checks in U.S. dollars should be exchanged in banks or exchange offices because very few businesses will accept them. Traveler's checks in Rupees can be purchased in the U.S. from specialized banks or in any major banks in India.
