MIS 5001 (500): Management Information Systems (3 s.h.)
This course provides an introduction to the effective use of information systems. The management of IT and information systems is addressed by considering contemporary issues faced by managers related to the linkage between systems initiatives and the businesses they support. The course focuses on the technical and managerial foundations required to make good management decisions, and the successful management of information systems.

MIS 5101 (520): Database Management and Warehousing (3 s.h.)
Understand the use, management, and design of database management system. Topics covered include data modeling, database design, structured query language, warehousing, and data administration, using a modern database management tool.

MIS 5102 (530): Business Systems Analysis (3 s.h.)

Understand the core issues of business information and systems analysis, design, and development. The course will include traditional analysis and data modeling methods as well as modern approaches such as object oriented modeling, unified modeling language, prototyping, software patterns, and issues involved in analyzing enterprise systems and electronic commerce sites.

MIS 5103 (540): Network Architectures for Business (3 s.h.)

The information architecture of the Internet enabled organization including the use and development of client server and distributed systems. Detailed analysis of networking and telecommunications including data, voice, image, video, network hardware, and topology. Concepts, models, architectures, and standards for the design, implementation, integration, security, and management of distributed Internet and Intranet enabled systems and networks. Understand the role of the information architecture and distributed systems on organizational design and management strategy.

MIS 5104 (564): Network Centric Application Design and Construction (3 s.h.)

Strategies for managing and creating information flows both within the firm and between firms using network-centric tools.  Issues addressed include web site development, usability analysis and evaluation, specification, interactivity and feedback, site maintenance, and coordinating Internet-based strategies with traditional communication strategies. 

MIS 5105 (571): Seminar in Emerging Technologies (3 s.h.)

A seminar review of emerging technologies that will prepare students to effectively leverage new technologies to create business opportunities through innovation.  The specific topic of this course will vary per semester to accommodate new trends and technologies.

MIS 5106 (572): Object Oriented Computing (3 s.h.)

Application of object oriented concepts to develop business applications using an object oriented programming language.

MIS 5107 (573): Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence (3 s.h.)

A review of knowledge management principles and technologies focusing on business applications.

MIS 5108 (575): Information Technology Strategy, Policy, and Management (3 s.h.)

Catalog Description: This course will take a case study-based approach on understanding the strategic, policy, and control elements of managing new and existing information systems, as well as IT infrastructure, and operations.

MIS 5190 (594): Special Topics (3 s.h.)

Prerequisite: Varies depending on course content and/or permission of instructor
Special topics in current developments in the field of information systems.

MIS 5901 (950): Capstone in Information Technology (3 s.h.)
Prerequisite: Only for MS in MIS students, Completion of all 4 core courses and 2 electives
Provides capstone experience. Students will select a topic in their area of interest. Will include a research paper or an implementation of an information system
