Dr. Luisa Turrin Fernholz

Luisa Turrin Fernholz became Professor Emerita of Statistics in July 2004. She received her M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and her Ph.D. in Statistics from Rutgers University in 1979.

Before joining the Statistics Department at Temple Universityin 1987, she held faculty positions at Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Buenos Aires. She authored the research monograph "von Mises Calculus for Statistical Functionals," she published numerous articles on asymptotic expansions, robustness, functional derivatives, bias and variance estimation, and she co-edited several research books in Statistics. In recognition of outstanding research, in 2000 she was named to the Dean’s Research Honor Roll in the Fox School. Since 1996 she has been a member of the Advisory Council for the Mathematics Department at Princeton University. She is also Director of the Minerva Research Foundation.
