Risk, Insurance, and Healthcare Management

Patrick A. Gallagher, Ph.D. has taught fulltime at Temple University since the fall, 2004 semester. Dr. Gallagher teaches introductory risk management, healthcare financial management and technology to undergraduates, and non-pension employee benefits in the MBA level.
Prior to his Temple experience Patrick Gallagher worked for 25 years in industry in risk management and insurance. This includes employment with large insurance companies, a large regional insurance broker, and a national consulting firm. Focusing on employee health benefits, workers� compensation and disability management, Dr. Gallagher has had clients including Fortune 500 firms, hospital systems, governmental agencies, insurance companies, and third-party administration and case management firms. Patrick has worked on an international study of disability management for a US-based disability management certification firm.
Dr. Gallagher�s research interests include managed workers� compensation and disability management programs. He recently completed a three-year study on developing better metrics to measure the results of workers� compensation interventions.
Dr. Gallagher received a Ph.D. in Business Administration, major in risk management and insurance, from Temple University. His undergraduate degree in English is from the University of Pennsylvania.
