A master of the case study method, John McClendon combines knowledge, warmth and humor into solid teaching effectiveness. Applying his private sector experience and the knowledge he gleans from his strong research agenda, he creates business cases that develop critical thinking and analytical skills, His innovative, interactive and rigorous teaching methods generate unsolicited praise from students and colleagues alike, as well as consistently high rating on student evaluations of teaching.
In 1993, he received an Andrisani-frank Undergraduate Teaching Award, and in 2006 he received the Temple University Great Teacher Award. Organized, well prepared entertaining and caring, he is always willing to tackle new course assignments and to address new student audiences. He teaches at all levels from BBA through PhD programs. He has taught at Temple Rome, and he was among the first to develop a distance-learning course for Temple Harrisburg. He also dedicates time and expertise to advising students and to teaching-related service.
