Wed 05/06/09 - Fair Use and Copyright Issues in Education
This session will deal with those legal issues that faculty run into while using things prepared by others. For instance, can you use a film or news clip to demonstrate a point in class? What about copying and distributing an article that is perfect for your class? Several top experts in the field will speak on fair use in education in a variety of settings including emerging issues and laws regarding use of materials in a learning environment.

Tue 05/05/09 - Innovations in Teaching
We will be presenting a session on Innovations in Teaching and will make several presentations of awards to Fox Faculty who are effectively using Technology to enhance learning and teaching.
The program will include presentations on use of technology to increase student engagement and learning outcomes. The audience will learn how faculty are using Youtube to work out homework problems for students, how to use SKYPE and related technology to connect with students, and how to use tablet PC's to change the power dynamics in the classroom. The event will conclude with awards to several FOX FACULTY who have demonstrated innovation in using technology in and out of the classroom.
Mon 03/23/09 - Encouraging Civil Behavior in Large Classes
This session, which will be conducted through role playing activities, is designed to help faculty cope in tough situations involving student performance and behavior. Students will be on hand to interact and answer questions, while seasoned faculty will be presenting examples and solutions to some of today’s most relevant classroom issues.
Topics addressed will include tough situations such as students:
- Who don't attend class
- Fail to come prepared for class/Fail to contribute to group effort
- Arrive late, leave early
- Text or surf during class
- Miss assignments/exams and want consideration
- Try to wrest control in the classroom or actively disrupt dominate classroom conversations/discussions
- Cheat on an assignment or an exam

The Fox Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning is pleased to sponsor a brown bag luncheon workshop entitled “Read, Think, and Engage.”
Marty Doyle will kick off the talk and set the stage for Jim Lammendola who will share with us his experiences with the Socratic Method in Law School and lead an open discussion about how the Socratic Method or variations of it could be used in a business school setting. Finally, Carol Philips from the Teaching and Learning Center will share with us other techniques that are effective in getting students to prepare for class and to engage students in class.

As we get further into the semester it becomes evident we need an opportunity to discuss coordination issues face-to- face. The NEW CURRICULUM was launched this year and there are many opportunities (and much need for) coordination ACROSS THE BBA CORE.
