Program Overview
The Fox School of Business Honors Program is an accelerated program within a nationally ranked business school. As a member of the honors community you engage in collaborative, interactive learning with gifted and motivated classmates — peers who take their studies seriously, support one another, and challenge themselves.
Honors students have the opportunity to enroll in course sections exclusively for honors students-classes taught by faculty committed to teaching and uniquely qualified to address the needs of their students. The smaller sections provide more personal attention and integrate technology into every aspect of the learning process. Enrollment is capped at 25 students so that classes can emphasize discussion, group presentations, case study analyses and researching actual business ventures.
The Fox School Honors Program integrates professional development into unique programs that help students build their careers. Through the Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) honors students build outstanding job search skills, ethical standards. The CSPD works very closely with the 19 student professional organizations that represent each major and allow students to get involved within the Fox School immediately. These student professional organizations help students connect to students and faculty in their discipline and network with successful alumni and executives in the field in which they are studying. We even have one just for the business honors students: the Business Honors Student Association.
The FSBM Honors Program combines the benefits of a small program with the immense resources of a significant University located in one of the largest cities in the U.S.
Requirements for Business Honors
The FSBM Honors curriculum parallels the FSBM core. Honors does not require additional courses, it replaces regular business classes with classes in the Honors Program. Once you have completed honors your transcript will read that you have completed the Business Honors Program.
Incoming Freshman:
If you join the program as an incoming freshman, you must take a total of nine honors courses (8 Fox Honors and 1 upper level University Honors course). Four of these nine must be HRM 1901, Acct 2901, BA 3903 and BA 4901. As of Fall 2012, 18 honors courses are regularly offered in the fall and/or spring semester.

Policies & Performance Assessment in the Business Honors Program
At the end of every semester, the Honors Program evaluates student performance. If your current grade point average (GPA) lies between 3.25 — 4.0 and you have not gone more than one semester without taking a Business Honors course, you are a member in Good Standing. Students in good standing may continue to take FSBM Honors courses. If you do not hear otherwise from an Honors staff member, you may assume that you are in good standing.
If your cumulative GPA falls below 3.25, or you go one semester without taking an honors course, you will be placed on probation. Probation is meant as a warning; students on probation may continue to take honors courses. Students who find that they are on probation should meet with the Honors staff as soon as possible to explore ways to improve their performance.
If your cumulative GPA is below 3.25 for two consecutive semesters, or if you don’t take an honors course in consecutive semesters, you will be demitted from the Business Honors Program. The aim here is to put you in a setting where you are more likely to succeed. We hope that relieving you of the demands of the Honors Program will enable you to regain your equilibrium. You may reapply to the Honors Program the next semester. If your GPA rises sufficiently (to at least 3.25 for at least 12 credit hours), you will be readmitted.
If your semester GPA is below 3.25 for one semester, you should meet with an Honors staff member as soon as possible to explore ways to improve your performance. If your semester GPA is below 3.25 for two consecutive semesters, you will be placed on probation. If your cumulative GPA is below 3.25 for three consecutive semesters, you will be demitted from the Honors Program.
Please note that if you are demitted from Honors at any point (University or Fox), any Fox scholarship offered at the time of admission will be rescinded.
While the University allows for five withdrawals in your academic career, the Business Honors Program allows for no more than two. Students with more than two non-medical withdrawals will be demitted from Business Honors.
All of these regulations are aimed at doing everything we can to help students reach high levels of academic success. Remember, at all times we expect you to be full-time, matriculated students. If you have any questions about any of the policies, please see the Honors staff in the Business Honors office.
Fox Honors Leadership Requirement
In addition to the academic requirements of the program, Fox Honors students will also need to satisfy the Leadership component of the program. Each year in the program, the student will need to meet the minimum number of activity points set for that year.
The Fox Honors program actively supports honors student participation in the Fox Immersion Program. All students are expected to earn at least 30 Immersion Points during an academic year.
Students who do not meet the annual minimum leadership point mark, even those who possess a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, will be removed from the program.
