Ph.D.-BA in International Business

Requirements

Twelve doctoral courses are required, which consists of 5 business core courses, 3 IB major courses, and 4 electives. Students normally choose a behavioral or a quantitative track for the business core. In addition to the course work, students must pass the preliminary exam in statistics, and a comprehensive exam in IB.

Quantitative Track:

  • Econ 601 Microeconomic Theory I
  • BA 614 Probability and Statistics Theory for Business Applications I
  • BA 611 Statistical Methods for Business Research II
  • Econ 615 Econometrics I
  • Stat 533 Applied Multivariate Analysis


2. IB Major (3 courses)

  • BA 731 Theory of International Business and Multinational Firms

  • BA 732 Research Methods in International Business
    (See description below)
  • One IB functional business course (e.g., international finance, international marketing)
  • (One IB research workshop currently under development)


3. Electives (4 courses)

  • Two generic business course in a given functional area
  • Two free electives subject to the approval of the IB doctoral advisor.
