- Jobs I have had in my lifetime…
- This is my first job, and I am loving it!
- Movie I can watch over and over…
- Kung Fu Panda. Jack Black is just hilarious.
- Places I have lived…
- State College, PA. I spent five years there for my PhD. Some people say it’s in the middle of nowhere since all the major cities, like Pittsburg, Philadelphia, NYC, and DC, are a few hours’ drive away. I actually miss it because it’s a good place for studying, and I make so many friends there. It’s really nice and quiet in the summer. A little cold in the winter, though.
- Wilmington, DE. I now live in the Trolley Square, a vibrant area in the heart of a not-so-crowded city. There are many nice diners around, and Brandywine Park is blocks away. I only wish it’s closer to Philly.
- Favorite TV series…
- Friends. It’s the most popular series in China around 2000. I watched an episode on my roommate’s computer and just could not stop. I borrowed his DVD and was glued in front of my computer for the following couple of days. It has been almost 10 years now and I still cannot switch to another channel when I occasionally saw the rerun on TV.
- Websites I visit daily…
- Google, like everybody else. Wikipedia. MITBBS, where Chinese in US share information about everything.
- Favorite things to do outside of work…
- Reading. I read a lot of research papers since it’s part of my job. I also read a lot in my spare time. Reading a good book is like chatting with somebody wise. It makes me think.
- Coolest thing I’ve ever done…
- Bungee jump. The location is not shabby either. I jumped from a station along the Three Gorges (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Gorges). I just graduated from high school and was traveling in that area before the closure of the famous dam. It was spontaneous and I doubt if I will ever do it again. I would love to try parachute jump one day, though.
- Book (not textbook!) I am currently reading…
- A History of Western Philosophy. By Bertrand Russell.
